1. DO 👏🏻 YOUR 👏🏻RESEARCH 👏🏻
Research the specific online business you want to get into. Any successful business won't be able to thrive without real understanding and knowledge behind the business, the competition, and the similar businesses that have thrived!
2. Choose A Name
Don't let this hold you back! So many people get stuck at this stage, because a name is EVERYTHING! It's the focal in all marketing, sales, and most importantly, the WHY behind doing what you do. So grab a notebook, write out the options that speak to you, and make your decision based on the one that speaks the loudest. Remember, you can either rush this step or take your time, but however you decide your name, make sure you love it!
3. Choose Your Amenities
Most businesses have figured this out to a generic sense before taking step #1, but this is the time to really hone in on your niche. What services do you want to offer in your online business? What products do you want to sell/offer? This is also the time to figure out what you DON'T want! How are you going to separate yourself from the competition by providing certain goods or services customers can't get anywhere else? What markets are so saturated that it's not worth the time or investment? Being able to answer all of these questions will really help you hone in on the details of your business!
4. Consider Your Rate
As a small business owner, every client is different. I always talk to the client to figure out what they want. After this consultation, I create a package for the client. This is definitely something that I work on every day. The hourly rate is good for the beginning of the relationship, but I would definitely recommend creating packages based on what you do and don't want to work with.
5. MARKET! MARKET! MARKET!
Let people know that you have started an online business and invite them to find out more! There are so many right ways to market, so deciding on your marketing tactics is key. The most important aspect of this is to get the word out there.
